Xerafy released Roswell, ultra-rugged UHF RFID tag for metal that uses its stainless steel chassis as antenna

Xerafy ultra-rugged UHF RFID tags for metalRoswell is an ultra-rugged UHF RFID tag for metal that uses its stainless steel chassis as antenna to provide consistent read range up to 5 meters over a 180 degree read angle, in environments with high presence of RF reflective materials.

The Roswell‘s main body is made of two cylindrical cases with a thin high-temperature resistant substrate between them. Rated IP69K, which means that it is not only dust- and immersion-proof, but also able to survive high temperature and pressure cleaning, this patent pending design withstands temperature up to 250°C and provides extraordinary protection against mechanical stresses and aggressive chemicals. The tag can reliably face strong impacts and vibrations, sand blasting, challenging thermal cycling, paint shop processes, high temperature and high pressure autoclave sterilizations and washings, exposure to corrosive chemicals such as NaOH and sulfuric acid. Roswell is available with brackets for screw mounting as standard, and without brackets as alternative option. The version with brackets measures 48 x 28 x 11 millimeters and can also be securely soldered to metallic assets, mounted with loop ties, attached with industrial adhesives. The version without brackets is smaller — it has a diameter of 28 millimeters and a thickness of 11 millimeters — and can be welded or fixed with industrial adhesives. This ultra-rugged UHF RFID tag for metal is an excellent solution for a wide range of applications, from tracking of surgical tools and trays, to process management in automotive manufacturing and identification of metallic assets in the oil and gas, construction and mining sectors. Furthermore, the tag is already being used for tracking returnable containers that go through frequent high-pressure wash-downs in food processing facilities. Roswell is ATEX certified for employment in potentially explosive atmospheres, according to European regulation. Upon customer request, Xerafy can deliver the tag laser engraved with human readable data and 2D barcode. Roswell leverages the Alien Technology Higgs-3 chip and is available in two frequency versions, 865-868 MHz and 902-928 MHz.
