Farsens Medusa allows easy development of battery-free EPC Class 1 Gen 2 compliant RFID sensors and actuators

RF module for battery-free EPC Gen 2 RFID sensors.

Leveraging its ANDY100 chip that efficiently manages EM field energy harvesting processes and wireless communications in compliance with  the EPC Class 1 Gen 2 RFID standard, Farsens designed Medusa, a compact RF module that allows sensors engineers to easily develop battery-free EPC Class 1 Gen 2 sensor and actuator tags.

.

By adopting Medusa, RFID sensor engineers do not need to design any RF part but rather focus only on the selection of the best sensor for their requirements. Interrogated by any standard EPC Class 1 Gen 2 reader, Medusa will manage all the processes related to wireless communications, dealing with the transmission of sensor/actuator data along with the tag unique EPC code. The connection of external antennas is simplified by the presence of a standard SMA connector. Medusa is available in two frequency versions, 865-868 MHz and 902-928 MHz.
