Farsens launched a passive RFID switch checker that allows wireless monitoring of the status of a switch in compliance with the EPC Gen 2 standard. Working with no the need for a battery and therefore maintenance, Farsens X1 is an effective solution for checking the status of open/closed electrical wires or connected/disconnected components in hardly accessible places or situations where use of batteries is not recommended.
Interrogated by any EPC Gen 2 standard reader, Farsens X1 checks the open/closed status of the controlled switch and transmits the data to the reader, together with its 96-bit EPC tag identifier. This passive RFID switch checker has an output data rate of 2 Hz and can be equipped with one of the following three types of connectors, 2.00 mm Pitch SIL Latched Vertical Pin Header, 2.00 mm Pitch Male 1×2 Header or just the 1×2 Header Footprint (pitch 2.00 mm). X1 has only one switch connector, but other product versions with 8, 16 or 32 switch connectors are available upon request. X1 is available in three standard antenna models that provide read range up to 2.5 meters. Two of them are optimized for best performance at ETSI frequency band, one with higher directivity and the other with wider radiation pattern. The third model provides high directivity and good performance across all world’s regions. All the Farsens X1 standard variants come in a non-protected PCB formats for embedding in non-metallic parts, but Farsens can provide fully customized encapsulation to meet any requirement in terms of mounting options and durability for use in harsh environments, including IP68 protection.
