RFID Tag Characteristics
Integrated Chip Features of RFID Tags
• INTEGRATED CHIP MANUFACTURER
• INTEGRATED CHIP
• AIR INTERFACE PROTOCOL AND OTHER STANDARDS
• EPC CODE DEFAULT SIZE
Number of bits provided specifically for the EPC code storage expressed in bits.
• EPC CODE EXTENSIBLE IN USER MEMORY
It is YES when the EPC Code Default Size can be extended in other memory banks.
• TID / UID MEMORY
Set at the factory, it contains information about the Integrated Chip manufacturer and IC model. In most tags, the TID / UID contains also a unique serial number (see below) expressed in bits.
• UNIQUE SERIAL NUMBER SIZE
Set at the factory, it cannot be altered and allows the Integrated Chip to be univocally distinguished from all the others chips of the same model (and manufacturer) expressed in bits.
• USER MEMORY
Additional memory for user data storage expressed in bits.
• USER MEMORY BLOCK SIZE
User memory block size expressed in bits.
• USER MEMORY BLOCK-LEVEL READING PROTECTION
This feature allow the user to protect some user memory blocks from public reading and leave publicly readable the rest. Note: soon, this feature will be moved in the IC ADDITIONAL FEATURES.
• INTRODUCTION PASSWORD / PRIVACY MODE
When this feature is set on, the tag will not respond to any command till it will receive the right password. Note: soon, this feature will be moved in the IC ADDITIONAL FEATURES.
• EAS command featured by the RFID chip
EAS stands for Electronic Article Surveillance. This one refers to the E.A.S. bit available on some chips and not to traditional hardware EAS technologies such as acousto-magnetic (AM) and electro-magnetic (AM). In oder to find RFID tags featuring traditional EAS technologies please check the ON-BOARD SENSORS AND OTHER EXTRA FEATURES parameter in the GENERAL INFO tab.
• ACCESS PASSWORD
This is used to protect a tag from not authorized memory writing.
• KILL COMMAND
This feature allows to permanently disable / kill the tag.
• IC ADDITIONAL FEATURES
This parameter allows to select special features of chips. Please check the IC NOTES field of each RFID tag for details about the use and the implementation of a specific feature in that tag.
• IC NOTES
Additional notes / information on the Integrated Chip. Do type a specific string to make a text search on this field.
• DATA RETENTION / OPERATING CYCLES
Data retention is the time duration for which the chip memory can store data and be read without fails. Operating cycles is the number of read / write operations the chip is guaranteed for.
