CAEN RFID is offering Gen 2 semi-passive RFID tags and development kits for cold chain monitoring applications

.

UHF temperature loggersCAEN RFID is offering a complete range of semi-passive RFID tags for cold chain monitoring applications. They are 4 different products, all compliant to the EPC Class 1 Gen 2 RFID standard and optimized to work in the 860 MHz ÷ 928 MHz frequency band for both ETSI and FCC regulated areas.

Gen 2 RFID temperature logger

A927Z

.

.

The A927Z is a low cost, UHF semi-passive RFID tag that allows to log temperature sensitive products during transportation or storage. This semi-passive RFID tag features 16 KByte of logging memory to store up to 8.000 temperature samples. The operational temperature range goes from -20°C to +70°C and the typical accuracy the same range is ±0.1°C..

RFID tags with external temperature probe

A927ZET

.

.

Also the A927ZET is a low cost, UHF semi-passive RFID tag for temperature logging. It has many things in common with the A927Z but boasts an additional external probe to keep temperature monitored both inside and outside a container with a single device. Its 16 KByte of logging memory are used to store up to 4.000 temperature samples per sensor. Also for this product, the operational temperature range goes from -20°C to +70°C and the typical accuracy is ±0.1°C..

Gen 2 RFID humidity logger

A927ZH

.

The A927ZH is a UHF semi-passive RFID tag that allows to monitor and keep records of both temperature and humidity samples during the transportation or storage of perishable goods. This cost-efficient semi-passive RFID tag  can store up to 4.000 temperature samples and up to 4.000 humidity samples. The temperature is -20°C — +70°C with a typical accuracy of ±0.1°C, while humidity range is 0-100% RH with an accuracy of ±3% RH..

.

The A927Z, A927ZET and A927ZH have all a robust IP67 encasement. These three semi-passive RFID tags feature an extensible EPC code (up to 496 bits), a 128-bit unalterable serial number and 432 bits of additional user memory. They are configurable either in continuous or over-threshold logging modes and the sampling intervals are programmable from 8 seconds to 18 hours. The temperature thresholds/alarms are programmable and battery charge measurement can be controlled through RF.
The typical shelf-life of the standard battery is 3 years. In case of need for longer duration, a 5-years shelf-life battery is available upon request..

CAEN RT0005 semi-passive RFID tags

RT0005

Also the RT0005 is a UHF Gen 2 semi-passive RFID tag and provides temperature logging capabilities to develop reliable cold chain monitoring applications at low costs. It features 8 KByte of logging memory to store up to 4.000 temperature samples, an EPC code extensible up to 496 bits, a 32-bit unalterable serial number and 448 bits of user memory. The user-friendly manual interface provides an alternative way to start/stop the temperature logging and check the status. This semi-passive RFID tag is able to identify problems along the whole cold chain calculating the Mean Kinetic Temperature (MKT) and the remaining battery life time, and to generate alarm in case these parameters exceed user defined thresholds. Up to 16 temperature alarms can be set. The typical temperature measurement accuracy from -20C to +70C is ±0.5°C. The battery has a shelf-life of up to 1,5 years..

CAEN RFID provides a standard development kit and also development kits tailored on the customer needs.
The standard development kit includes:
